Battery Qualification 101 | Plugvolt Webinars

FREE Webinar – Voltaiq is a proud sponsor of this event. Batteries are the most complex and failure prone components in modern devices. To mitigate risks, companies extensively qualify battery cells and packs, a time consuming and expensive process that can lead to delays in product launch if issues are surfaced. Effectively managing time, personnel, and equipment is critical to meeting deadlines while also ensuring products meet safety and performance requirements. In this webinar, we’ll provide an introduction to battery qualification and show interactive demonstrations of performance qualifications. We’ll also highlight best practices and value-added analytics to ensure that quality issues are surfaced soon as possible so that product release timelines are met. This webinar will focus on the following key topics: • Discuss the need to qualify batteries •  Discuss the different types of battery qualification •  Introduction to common performance qualifications — rate capability and cycle life among others • Interactive analysis demonstration, first using traditional tools and then using a Battery Intelligence System •  Best practices to ensure product release timelines are met Presenter Dr. Tal Sholklapper – CEO at Voltaiq Dr. Tal Sholklapper has an extensive record of success as a cleantech engineer and entrepreneur. Prior to founding Voltaiq, he worked as the lead engineer on a DOE ARPA-E funded project at the CUNY Energy Institute, developing an ultra low-cost grid-scale battery. Before joining CUNY, Dr. Sholklapper co-founded Point Source Power, a low cost fuel-cell startup based on technology he developed while at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and UC Berkeley, where he also did his graduate work in Materials Science and Engineering. As a Materials Postdoctoral Fellow at LBNL, he successfully led the transfer of lab-scale technology to industry partners. Voltaiq is a proud sponsor of this event.

Battery EIS Tutorial Course 1/4: Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) - Fundamentals and Principles | Plugvolt Webinars

Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) will be described from a theoretical point of view. Various representations (Nyquist, Bode, etc.) of impedance data will be introduced. Guidelines on how to interpret the data will also be provided. This webinar will focus on the following key topics: • Definition of impedance • Various representations • Impedance interpretation: the deductive and the inductive way Presenter Dr. Nicolas Murer – Product Manager and Applications Engineer at Bio-Logic SAS, France Dr. Nicolas Murer is a Product Manager and Applications Engineer at Bio-Logic SAS, France, which designs and manufactures high performance research grade instrumentation and software : potentiostats/galvanostats with built-in Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS), Battery Cyclers, Frequency Response Analyzers for materials analysis, and scanning probe electrochemical workstations. Nicolas received his engineering diploma from Polytechnic Institute of Grenoble in electrochemistry and materials in 2003. He then received his Ph.D. at Université de Bourgogne in 2008. Prior to joining Bio-Logic, he was a post-doctorate at the Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio (USA).

BIS Tutorial Course 3/3: Battery Intelligence in New Product Introduction (NPI) for Transportation and Consumer Electronics | Plugvolt Webinars

FREE Webinar – Voltaiq is a proud sponsor of this event. OEMs are faced with an ever growing list of challenges when designing batteries into their systems, from long qualification time, to increasingly complex systems and the lack of qualified battery engineers. In this webinar, we’ll review the battery and systems qualification process for transportation and consumer electronics, including specific reference performance tests such as hybrid pulse power characterization (HPPC), that are used for BMS development. We’ll then shift into how Battery Intelligence Systems (BIS) can both accelerate time to market for New Product Introduction (NPI), and can surface deeper insights about variability in batteries and packs to increase range, lower costs, and improve reliability. This webinar will focus on the following key topics: • The state of OEM new product introduction (NPI) • Battery and system qualification • BMS development and hybrid pulse power characterization (HPPC) • Ensuring time to market for NPI • Extending range and lifetime with component variability assessment Presenter Dr. Tal Sholklapper – CEO at Voltaiq Dr. Tal Sholklapper is the CEO of Voltaiq. Before co-founding Voltaiq, Dr. Sholklapper was the lead engineer on a DOE ARPA-E funded project at the CUNY Energy Institute, developing an ultra-low-cost grid-scale battery. Prior to his work at CUNY, Dr. Sholklapper co-founded Point Source Power, a low-cost fuel-cell startup based on technology he developed while at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Dr. Sholklapper has a BS in Physics and Applied Mathematics and an MS and PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from UC Berkeley, where he holds the honor of completing the fastest engineering PhD in two and a half years. Voltaiq is a proud sponsor of this event.
